POSITIVE DISPLACEMENT ROTARY PUMPS: SCREW, VANE & LOBE PUMPS

Screw Pump : Three screw pump  consist of  central drive  rotor  with two meshing idler  rotors ,the rotor turns inside a housing  machined to close tolerance.

Sliding Vane Pump:
Ø  Sliding pump consist a rotor having a number of axial slots and fixed eccentrically in a casing.
Ø  The rotor carries vanes in its slots which maintain contact with casing through the effect of centrifugal force.
Ø  Fluid enters through inlet port as the gap between the rotor and casing is increasing and trapped fluid deliver to outlet port.

Lobe Pump:
Ø  Two inter meshed rotors are each affixed to gear driven shaft.
Ø  The shafts rotate in opposite directions.
Ø  The rotating motion of the rotors create an expanding cavity on the suction side.
Ø  This allows fluid  to enter and fill the suction side of the pump.
Ø  The rotors carry the fluid around the housing to the discharge side where it is expelled out of the pump by the closing cavity.
