Centrifugal Pumps: Characteristic Curves

Where N is speed in RPM and D is diameter.
Curves Basics:
1. The interrelations of capacity, head, power
and efficiency are called the pump characteristics.
2. Most
generally the pumps run at constant speed .Some times the pump may have to run
under conditions, other than those for which it has been designed. It become
essential that the exact behavior of the pump under varied conditions should
predetermined. This is represented graphically by means of curve, known as
Characteristic curve.
3. These
curves are necessary to predicate the behavior and performance of the pump
working under different flow rate, head and speed.
